On my walk today I found one of the few tufts of green grass that haven't changed with the season. Seeing it reminds me of the saying, "The grass is always greener on the other side!". The funny thing is this tuft of green grass was on my side of the fence!
This reminded me of our own powers of creation. We are all only human and cannot help but compare ourselves to others. We just have to remember that a lot of times we are only seeing the cover -- the title page. Until we delve into their story what do we really know? We have the power to change ourselves. If we think that we have brown grass on our side of the fence then we need to create our own green grass! We need to be grateful for what we do have, not the fleeting things in life but the steadfast. And if we don't have it . . . go get it!!!
Far away there in the sunshine are my highest aspirations. I may not reach them, but I can look up and see their beauty, believe in them, and try to follow where they lead.

Tangled
Photo 89
There are just times in life when everything seems tangled and the harder we look the more tangled things seem. Sometimes we just have to pick one strand, only one, and follow it. Then things can become clearer, less complex. You can begin to see the over all picture and universal pattern.

Nature's Work

With the ground being mostly peat, when the tree fell it pulled up a lot of ground with it.

Splitting Tree
Photo 84
On an outing with my dogs, our usual walk, we came across this tree. It is amazing how it's opened right up, almost like a flower. It's out on the back part of the property where you can find what I like to call my "tree graveyard". 2 years ago the area was bulldozed due to a major forest fire. Today there is a lot of regrowth, which is wonderful to see.
Isn't it amazing to watch nature do her work.

Aspire

I know that I can definitely be "inspired". Inspired to read, be active, lose weight, eat healthy . . . . . . and the list can go on. But now I find myself asking a different question, a question that hadn't really crossed my mind since elementary school.
What do I "aspire" to be?
I used to aspire to be a successful writer, a lawyer (at one time), to have a career that truly helps other people. I know that now I apsire to be a good mother, daughter, wife and friend. But more than that . . . what gives my life meaning? Am I just coasting through life right now, going through the motions? What do I aspire to be for me? What brings me true happiness to the depths of my soul and am I actively seeking it?
An interesting question to ponder . . .

I am the Master of my Fate

Waste no tears
Upon the blotted record of lost years,
But turn the leaf, and smile, oh smile, to see
The fair white pages that remain for thee.
Prate not of thy repentance. But believe
The spark divine dwells in thee: let it grow.
That which the upreaching spirit can achieve
The ground and all creative forces know;
They will assist and strengthen as the light
Lifts up the acorn to the oak-tree's height.
Thou has but to resolve, and lo! God's whole
Great universe shall fortify thy soul.
