Far away there in the sunshine are my highest aspirations. I may not reach them, but I can look up and see their beauty, believe in them, and try to follow where they lead.

Here are some daisy's that my daughter picked for me. She had a lot of fun and they look really pretty too.

Home Sweet Home

Photo 22

This is my daughter's little play area (aka tree fort).

Photo 21

What can I say? The Alberta Wildrose. There are tons out here.

With all the rain and moisture we have been having lately I've noticed a lot of mushrooms popping up. Most of them are of the smaller variety, growing in clusters in the grass. There have been larger ones which grow in the taller grass but unfortunately I haven't noticed them until I'm in the process of running them over with the lawnmower. My daughter and I were out for a quick walk this morning and came across this big beauty and I just had to take a shot of it. I'm really glad that it turned out so well.

Big Things and Small Things

Photo 17

This photo reminds me that we have unlimited potential for growth and that the only thing that stops us from growing is ourselves. It reminds me of the time back when we were children and we believed that anything was possible. As adults our responsibilities, lack of time and fears give us excuses to stay within the known, safe. But we all still carry that seed for unlimited growth, we just have to remind ourselves that it's okay to believe in it again.

Photo 17a

And while we are reaching for new heights within our potential we also need to remember that the little things are important too. Everything is interconnected and there is so much around us to appreciate and be grateful for and unlimited room to grow.

You've Got Mail

Photo 16

I love getting mail! In our fast paced, high tech world there is still something to be said for snail mail, somehow it just has that personal touch. The old style mailboxes are so cute as they stand silently by the side of the road, waiting . . . I enjoy the short walk to the mailbox and meeting neighbours as they pass by on the road. It's lovely that we are able to be frozen in time with our old friend the mailbox and not at the impersonal postal boxes.

Fern's of Summer

Photo 15

This photo ended up being really fun to take, I am discovering the multiple ecosystems within my yard. As I walked around my dog and cat were trailing behind me. If I got too far ahead my cat would meow "Wait for me!" Just before I took this photo they were playing tag. I'm surprised that they never ran infront of the camera.

I LOVE Celtic things. Maybe it's due to my Scottish ancestry . . . I don't know. Take the beauty of this Celtic Knot. It seems so simple but try to look closer. Soon you'll be following it's path leading to hidden mysteries.

Inspiration

Photo 13a

While on the hunt for inspiration, especially until my kids come home, I took this photo in the field behind my house. After looking at it I was amazed at the different types of meaning that could be pulled out of this photo. The beauty of the flower, the barbed wire behind it . . .

Photo 13

My daughter and I enjoy taking walks throughout the property and are constantly amazed at the variety of wildflowers we find. As a budding artist she tries her hand at drawing them, while I've now found another excellent way to capture them.

On the Go

Photo 12

Sometimes it always feels like we are on the go, never allowing a minute for ourselves. My weekend was jam packed and while it was very enjoyable it left me a little tuckered out. This photo reminds me to take a minute, enjoy that cup of tea and that moment of peace.

Nature

Here is an extra photo that I took today that I just had to include. This trail is always my starting point when I take my dog for a walk. I love the solitude it offers and the quiet. Listening to the different birds, exploring new paths and the beauty of the different wildflowers that grow at different points along the trail make every walk a new adventure.

Photo 11

I was lucky enough to get out before the sun disappeared and this long grass caught my eye. Most of our lives are built around order, which they have to be or how else
would the kids get to school on time?
would we make it to work?
would we make our appointments?
would our house stay clean?
But chaos has a beauty of it's own, a touch of wildness. Sometimes for as much order as there is in our own life, our lives still resemble a jungle. Today celebrate your jungle!

Who Knows Where Your Path Will Lead You

Photo 10

This is an image of one part my driveway while coming off the road. It's fun to imagine this path leading you off into the unknown, where the grass gets taller and the path less used. In this case it happens to lead home which is just as good.

A Ball of Energy

Photo 9

The sky has really been capturing my attention lately, maybe it has something to do with the strange weather we've been having and not wanting to be caught out in the rain. I caught this image just before going to play ball last night. I love the way the sun looks like a ball of energy sunk in the clouds.

You gotta love Alberta. Just blink and the weather will change. While all this rain is nice, making everything so lush, I do look forward to the next sunny day. Just remember when you feel that you have your own rain clouds hanging over you, everything can change in an instant. Just take that deep breath and soon enough you'll have clear skies!

Away Camping

Photo 7

Oreo, our family cat. I do admit that my inspiration may have been lacking a tad but spending the weekend at the lake tired me out.

Photo 6

This is my nephew on the beach by grandpa's boat. The picture turned out a little blurry but I thought it was so cute. I don't think anyone really wanted to head home that day.

Photo 5
The telescope was a fascinating new toy on our trip and we really couldn't keep our daughter away from the beach.

Photo 4
This was our first night at the lake and my daughter and nephew were playing by the beach. It was a really beautiful night.

Photo 3
I really liked the way the red apple hummingbird feeder was framed behind.

Coming Home

Photo 2

I love coming home, especially after a busy day in the city. Pulling into the driveway with it's green canopy and stray sunbeams is like entering your own private santuary. The wind of the drive helps you to slow your pace and nothing seems that urgent anymore.

Here We Go . . .

Photo 1
Although my best photo subjects are away camping with grandma and grandpa, I thought I might as well jump in. This is definitely going to include a learning curve so hopefully all of you can bear with me.

I wandered around the house looking for divine inspiration when the bright flowers in my garden caught my eye. Gardening is one of my favorite past times and I love the textures and colors.
I hope that you enjoy them as much as I do.
